Our Mission:

Protect and preserve

the natural habitat of Big Bear Valley

through education, monitoring

and advocacy about

its value and community benefit.

What we do:

→ monitor all issues which impact

        • the fresh mountain air

        • the pure water

        • natural resources

        • wildlife habitat

        • quality of life in our valley

→ keep our membership and the general public informed

→ hold agencies accountable for these public values

Because residents and visitors come to the Big Bear Valley for these unique qualities, our goal is to protect them for the continued future enjoyment of all.

We support reasonable compatible development, requiring only that the proper legal procedures be enforced and that community input is assured. We encourage the purchase of pristine areas by conservation groups whose role is to keep them natural.

Eagle Cam Notice

Thurs 6/21 On some days and most nights, the nest is empty, but 4 eagles have been visiting off and on--Jackie (mom) was there a couple days ago, Mr. B (dad) visited this morning and Stormy (chick) has visited a few times. All 3 of them have been actively chasing away the 4th visitor, a 3-year-old unbanded eagle who has been visiting, rearranging the nest and hanging out a lot. Since it's unbanded, we cannot know, but from the size, it is probably male and based on it's age, it could be Jackie's younger brother--the chick hatched in this nest 3 years ago when Ricky and Lucy (Jackie's parents) occupied it--named Shadow. Check updates and photos on our facebook page "Friends of Big Bear Valley and Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam"
